lets talk about the rumor that BLM is anti-semitic

in a different thread, someone accused BLM of being anti-semitic, and a mod instructed me to start a new thread about it, rather than continue discussion about the complete lack of factualness of that statement in that thread.

as such:

i cant find anything even close to verifiable that BLM stands against jewish people. does anyone have any proof, or is this just internet conspiracy nonsense?

i googled, and couldnt find anything that seemed truthful or not conspiracy-cray-cray.

AFAIK, nobody is claiming that the majority of protesters are antisemetic. That said, some are, including the leadership.

"Anti-racism movements often foster anti-semitism. This is because the most committed anti-racists see Jews as part of an imperialist racist Zionist conspiracy, represented by Israel. According to their political lights, Israel is the world’s single biggest problem, and they believe it exists solely to egregiously and brutally oppress people of colour – including, but not limited, to their Arab neighbours. Jews, Zionists and racists unite, for them, in one toxic brain fog."

A few OpEds pop up, but nothing concrete from my search either.

same. not about to start giving money to a rightwing brit tabloid just for back up to a nonsense claim... that likely was never actually even read by the person using it as their source.

betcha someone is about to become an avid reader/subscriber for slightly less than the free trial week, though.

I'm curious as to what the definition of "Anti-Semitic" is being used here.

Did BLM members attack or kill Jews ? If they did, they should be arrested for assault or murder, and tried and convicted.

Did BLM mebers accost Jews and yell vile things at them? If so, they should be arrested for harassment.

Did BLM members deny Jewish people a place to buy or rent ? Did BLM members refuse a Jewish person a job because they were Jewish ? Have BLM members ever been accused of falsely calling the police on Jewish people ? Have they followed Jewish people in stores while they were shopping, thinking that they are probably thieves because they are Jews ? Have BLM members erected statues of Goering and Goebbels and Himmler and Hitler himself, soley to cause psychic distress in Jewish people ?

If nothing of this nature occurred, and people are are upset over things BLM members may have said, or even thought...no matter how ignorant or misinformed or just plain stupid and prejudiced it might be - and however much most of us may find it reprehensible or find it upsetting- we can't control thoughts or speech...only ACTIONS

Exactly. Just seems like another tactic by right wingers to call BLM terrorists. There’s no history of them denying human rights from anyone.

Anyone associated with the history and rise of Mao Zedong can see the similarities between the two movements:

  • Mao was a Marxists
  • Mao was an atheist
  • Mao used minority abuses to fuel his cause
  • Mao appealed to the youth
  • Mao inspired student and union protests
  • Mao used violence and fear to accomplish his goals
  • Mao destroyed statues and history books in an effort to erase history
  • Mao desired to destroy the government system to replace it with a Marxist structure

Is "atheism" automatically a BAD thing ?

Or "Appealing to Youth" ? In that case , BTS or Taylor Swift must be put on the ash heap...

"Minority abuses to fuel his cause" ? Couldn't that also describe MLK and Malcolm X and Cesar Chavez and Abraham Foxman, and technically not "minority", but Bella Abzug and Gloria Steinem and Betty Friedan as well ?

"Student and union protests" ? Again, a tactic used by MLK and CORE and SNCC , as well as the anti-war movements of the 60s and 70s.

And Marxism is a legitimate political philosophy...one I may not necessarily agree with with, but one that should be subject to debate and the exchange of ideas and opinions, not just as a shothand to villification

I saw a article on the NY post today, that came from
Breitbart claiming one of the founders supposedly supported Marxism. I’ll have to see if there are any other sources confirming that.

I have not heard of anyone from BLM abusing the rights/denying the rights of any racial/ethnic/religious group or have committed any act of domestic terrorism in this country. So where’s the proof from their accusers?

I gather you don't know much about history of communism, or haven't every heard the victims who have lived through it talk about it to call it a "legitimate political philosophy." BLM needs to distance themselves from these marxists if they don't want that association to be used against them.

I know fully well the horrors perpetrated by Stalin and Mao and other totalitarian dictators in the name of Communism. This information is readily available to anyone who wants to learn it. These were evil men. But is that evil inherent in Marxist philosophy, or is it part and parcel with any type of dictatorship, whatever their political philosophy?
I simply pointed out that if those were the tenets of Marxism that BLM demonstrates, what about others that also have the same attributes?
