trump and the racist connection

https://www.cnn.com/2020/...index.html

Trump thanked 'great people' shown in Twitter video in which a man chants 'white power'

(CNN)President Donald Trump on Sunday morning widely shared a video he said is from the Villages, a retirement community in Florida, in which a man driving a golf cart with Trump campaign posters is seen chanting "white power."

The President retweeted the video that showed the community's Trump supporters and anti-Trump protesters arguing with one another. The President thanked the "great people" shown in the video.

"Thank you to the great people of The Villages. The Radical Left Do Nothing Democrats will Fall in the Fall. Corrupt Joe is shot. See you soon!!" he wrote in the tweet. Roughly three hours later, the tweet no longer appeared in Trump's timeline.
[...]
Before the tweet was deleted, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, the only Black senator in the Republican conference, said on Sunday that the video retweeted by the President was offensive and "indefensible."
[...]
Trump has stoked racial tensions in the US throughout his presidency and has recently used race-baiting rhetoric as he seeks to fire up his base to win a second term in office.

Trump often denies his language is racist or inflammatory and dismisses criticism of such rhetoric as political correctness. He also has long denied being racist and claims that he's done more for the Black community than any other president.

Trump used a racist term, the "kung flu," to describe the coronavirus at his recent Tulsa, Oklahoma, rally.

Amid nationwide protests over racial injustice and police brutality this month, the President has retrenched into divisive themes instead of seeking a unifying tone.

He has opposed changing the names of certain bases honoring Confederate commanders and he and his administration have taken steps to protect national monuments as some protesters have attempted to tear down Confederate statues themselves.

Last week, Trump tweeted seemingly random videos portraying White people being assaulted by Black people, asking in one, "Where are the protesters?"

He warned protesters in Minneapolis that "when the looting starts, the shooting starts," a phrase that originated in the 1960s with a Miami police chief accused of racism.

----

i think its high time we discuss this race-baiting trump and his supporters love to do, dont you?

trump is clearly a racist or more than willing to partner up with racism in order to get the power he craves.

he race-baits to a level completely unbecoming of the office, and does so willfully and gleefully. because it benefits him politically. its absolute sleaze that is un-american, dangerous, and downright unacceptable.

and it trickles down right through the mouths of his supporters. because if the president is allowed to do it, why shouldnt they?

its become exceedingly rampant, normalized, and permissible under this administration, and it has to stop.

and its not gonna stop until one of two things starts happening:
- the people doing it stop doing it.
- we call it out and demand an end to it when they do it.

what happened to the america that was about progress and change and helping your fellow man?

the bitter cyncicsm, embrace of the status quo, and allowance for or use of racism and race-baiting as a 'difference of opinion' is nothing short of disgusting and unamerican.

Trump has always been a White supremacist and his supporters were either racists themselves, or didn’t MIND his racism because it didn’t affect them

well, being as it stayed for three hours, i am sure what happened was:

- the staffers had a meeting to discuss it

- decided they HAD TO get him to delete it.
- forced someone to be the one to TELL HIM he has to delete it.

- and then that poor unfortunate soul had to ARGUE WITH HIM to delete it.

that seems about right for the three hours between it going up and it coming down.

Is it wrong that I assumed he did it to distract from Russia?

He's definitely racist. His base love it, and he knows it'll cause an outrage with everyone else.

He's all about division and hate.

i certainly dont think its wrong.

russia is certainly one of the things he wants to distract from, as is the covid disaster, his taxes, and so on.

hes completely about division. its the only way he can achieve power. its what dicators traditionally do.

it would not surprise me at all that he mightve done this just to take the spotlight off his possibly treasonous acts. he definitiely wants to get away from that conversation as quickly and as much as he can, and a little "oopsy" goes a long way in distracting the american public from larger issues.

yea. i would be willing to bet he got the call on the green.

i mean... is it not mind-blowing that a president of the united states would post a white power video for the country to see? if this were any other president, we would be demanding he resign immediatly. but because its trump, and a white power video is probably the least horrible thing he has done lately, its just kind of a "meh" situation.

trump has managed to normalize posting white power videos. thats how far this country has fallen with him in charge, and how normalized and acceptable race-baiting has become.

Unbelieveable that the codgers at The Villages are chanting White Power so openly. It's like they never had their chance to go public until now. Sickening. I've been there, years ago, one of my friend's parents lived there. It was not a polical hotbed then that I saw. More like a major amounts of wine and cocktails every night kind of group.

after the last 4 years, i am no longer shocked by open displays of neo-nazism, nor is the rest of the country.

we have become so accepting of open displays of racism, race-baiting, and neo-nazism that people dont even challenge it.

the defenses of it as 'difference of opinion' come out, as does the endless ad hominem arguments about anyone even pointing out the open racism of the display.

think about:
-the unite the right march complete with nazi flags and symbols to save a confederate statue.

-yesterday in boston with openly displaying a nazi banner.

-trump reposting a white power video yesterday.

how in the world are those acceptable?? the president of the US is reposting "white power" videos, and the country just sort of accepts it, because its just one of 40 other things he does to distract from much larger problems.

trump has normalized and made acceptable this kind of behavior in america. its killing the country and people have normalized to a point of acceptability.

mind-blowing.

Agree, but I do have a problem with it and have for a long, long time. So do many others. I am not used to it, under or above ground. Even the Anabaptists came out to protest in Minnie for George Floyd.

There was a worldwide Abolitionist movement to abolish slavery. A lot of these Villages people will die off sooner then later. Unfortunately I will too, but it's something. These assholes are on a flame-out.

my apologies if it came off as accusatory of you. not the intent. i know how much you are for progress and justice.

a lot of the rest of the country, though, is very guilty of it. we, as a whole, are openly allowing american racism and neo-nazism.

the president tweeted a "white power" video as a postitive. he held that video up as proof of what an awesome job he is doing: a white man driving a golf cart with TRUMP signs on it chanting "white power! white power!" and then a second man yells "white power!" back to him in affirmation.

and the president of the united states of america reposted that "white power" video as proof of what a great job he is doing, in the most unbecoming behavior i have ever seen from a president in my lifetime.

meanwhile: he also patted russia on the back and tried to help them out KNOWING that least one american soldier was killed by taliban bounty hunters paid for by the russians. the same russians who, by the way, also got him elected.

so... a would be dictator who wants to be putin, who probably didnt commmit treason only because we are not at war with the country who helped put him in office. said despot is now posting white power videos as proof he is doing a great job.

and also: theres a pretty good chances hes hiding the taxes because there s a decent chance they link to russian money and interests. which he never divested from, as he refused to do turn off his money flow when he took office.

trump will go down as the most corrupt man to ever hold the office. the damage he has done to this country is immeasurable.

and instead of demanding he resign immediately, we just kinda shrug and have ideological debates about BLM instead.

this country is doomed unless its get back on track.

BULLY COWARD VICTIM: The Story of Roy Cohn

Bully. Coward. Victim. The Story of Roy Cohn offers an unflinching look at the infamous attorney who prosecuted Ivy Meeropol’s grandparents, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, and later argued persuasively for their execution in what became known as the “atomic spies” case.

Directed by Ivy Meeropol, the film examines Cohn’s life as chief counsel to Senator Joseph McCarthy in the late 1950s and then through the 1980s when he became a darling of the Reagan White House, a rabid anti-homosexuality activist and political mentor to Donald J. Trump before dying from AIDS in 1986.

The film draws from extensive, newly unearthed archival material, recorded at the height of Cohn’s career as a power broker in the rough and tumble world of New York City business and politics.

If ANYONE believes this and send their kids into a covid cess pool.... he is not gonna do one thing about it when they get sick
